How "Intuition Over Everything" Became My Mantra: My Breathwork Facilitator Journey

Over the past few years, I’ve been leaning into something that doesn’t come naturally in a world that moves quickly:

The importance of slowing down… being with myself… and listening to my inner voice.

In 2020, a friend introduced me to breathwork. I was immediately intrigued. I started with individual sessions, then group experiences… and I quickly felt how powerful this practice could be.

I love therapy... both as someone who is a therapist and someone who has been in therapy. And breathwork was helping me step into healing and growth in a different way that I realized I also needed.

But instead of rushing to bring it into my work, I kept it for myself.

It felt important to really experience it and to practice it over time before I could even consider offering it to my clients.

As therapists and space holders, there can be a pull to share what we’re learning right away. But I’ve come to believe that doing our own work, and truly committing to it, is part of the responsibility of this role.

Breathwork became a space I returned to again and again. A way to deepen my relationship with myself. A place to process, to feel, to release.

A few years later, I felt a quiet nudge to put my name on the waitlist for a breathwork training I had been eyeing.

One thing led to another… and now I’m a certified breathworker. But more importantly, it’s a practice that continues to shape how I show up—in my life and in my work.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

Intuition doesn’t always shout, it sometimes is a whisper.

And most of us are moving too fast to hear it.

We often live guided by logic, expectations, and what we think we should do. But intuition lives in the body—in subtle pulls, in quiet knowing, in ideas that don’t always make immediate sense.

And learning to listen—to your body, your breath, your inner cues—is a practice.

That’s part of what breathwork offers.

Not fixing.

Not forcing.

Just creating space for whatever is there to move… and for whatever there is to be known.

Recently, I was at a networking event and someone asked me what my business mantra is. Without really thinking, I said:

“Intuition over everything.”

And the more I’ve reflected on it, the more I realize how true that is for me.

It’s how I approach my work. It’s how I make decisions. It’s how I continue to find my way... both personally and professionally.

Because building that intuition muscle changes how you show up in your life.

It allows you to make choices from a place that feels connected... to yourself, to your values, and to what you actually want your one life to be.

Breathwork is one of the ways I’ve learned to strengthen that connection.

If you’ve been feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or like you haven’t had a moment to just be with yourself—this work can be a powerful place to start.
